Best of Summer Competition

NGA Renaissance Competition

[UPDATE 15.01.2012] Congratulations to Emma Dasey for her winning poetic entry. The quality of the entries was really fantastic so we have decided to also include two other entires with runner-up prizes of 2 tickets to Dendy Cinema, the runner ups were Tim the Yowie Man and Katharine Blackwell.

Emma Dasey via Facebook (WINNER!):
'Canberra summer means weekends to spend at the coast
Drinks at Old Parliament House for a Friday night toast.
Summer is Brodburger down by the lake
And cool evening breezes and barbecued steak.
Summer is Australia Day on the Parliament lawns
And runs 'round the lake in the cool early morns.
Summer in Canberra is late evening sport
Best of all, if you ski, Canberra summers are short!'

Tim The Yowie Man via Twitter:

Katharine Blackwell via Facebook:
'This summer? Sitting on the front terrace of Old Parliament House for coffee and at the Kitchen Cabinet, checking out what's going to be on in Canberra for the rest of the year, then sniggering at the Behind the Lines exhibition.'

It’s still light enough to enjoy a beer in the sun after work, so one thing is clear – summer is upon us. But that’s not the only thing that we’ve been waiting for, the amazing Renaissance exhibition has finally arrived at the National Gallery of Australia and the Verve Clicquot Sculpture Bar has reopened. There’s so much going on in this crazy town, we just can’t contain ourselves.

To celebrate we are running a competition. The prize? Two tickets to the Renaissance exhibition and a bottle of Verve Clicquot care of our wonderful friends at the Sculpture Bar. Imagine viewing the classics such as Raphael, Botticelli, Bellini and Titian then ducking out to the fabulous sculpture garden to sip champagne and chill out to some killer beats by local DJs. Belissimo!!!

What do you need to do? Tell us your favourite thing to do in Canberra in summer on our Facebook page or Twitter. We want to know the best food, drinks, venues, music, exhibitions or whatever makes you tick! Enter as many times as you want. All our favourite entries will also be posted to our blog so we can promote the best stuff in Canberra.

Judges will pick the most creative/interesting entry at midday on the 15th of January 2012. And don’t sweat - the two judges and their families are ineligible to win the prize – so all will be fair and impartial.

To kick things off here is one of our favourite things.

Get some friends together, get an esky and some beats and line up a few hours of serious Kubb playing action in Glebe Park.
