InTheAct.com.au wants your (juicy juicy) brain!

Do you love Canberra as much as we do? Have you found something amazing here that makes you want to run to the top of a mountain and shout it to the world?

Well, we don’t have a mountain here at InTheAct.com.au but we do have a great opportunity for you to share your favourite experiences. If you have something that you want to tell everyone about then we invite you to send it through to us and if we like it we will publish it.

While we can’t afford to pay you, anything you send will remain under your complete control and any editorial modifications we want to make will be sent to you for approval first. That said, we appreciate every point of view and every style of writing and it doesn’t matter if you are a seasoned blogger, a professional writer or are just learning your ABCs if you have something that you want to share – we want to hear it.

Not everything that is sent to us will necessarily be appropriate for publication on the site, but we will always offer constructive explanations for anything we don't use. So long as you follow the basic mood of the site you have a very good chance of seeing your work buzzing through the inter-tubes in no time.

To help you get started we have some pointers:

We don’t want to be a review website, we are about sharing the great stuff in Canberra and if a place just outright stinks then we simply won’t talk about it. Of course, some places you like will have negative points about them, and that is of course welcome but if you don’t like a place, don’t write about them – find somewhere else that deserves your time and effort.

The most valuable thing that any of us have is our personality and while none of us are the same we can all appreciate each other’s individuality. We love it when we see that in an article – you don’t have to be funny or smart or even that interesting but when we read your writing we want to have a sense of who you are.

If you have some images or photos you want to include then feel free to attach them. Don’t worry if they are blurry or if you aren’t a professional photographer (Photoshop does wonders). If you don’t have images that is cool too – we can throw something together for you. The large majority of the photos we use are simply taken on our iPhones so feel free to get creative using whatever you have at hand.

Our rules and regulations (don’t worry – were pretty relaxed):

If you want to swear then swear but use it appropriately. If you write an article that is awesome but full of unnecessary profanity we are going to have to bust out the whiteout and we’d prefer to put your words on the screen as they came from you.

Any text or images you provide to us must be your own work. If I am honest, we aren’t going to check so we are trusting you to do the right thing. Any text or images we post of yours will remain entirely your own intellectual property. If you (the author) want it taken down just tell us and we will take it down ASAP, you want to modify it – tell us and we will make the modifications ASAP. By writing great articles for us you are doing us a favour and we want to make that as easy as possible for you. Again, any modifications we make to your text or images will not be posted without your approval.

There are no size limits on the articles but I am yet to meet anyone that is forty pages worth of interesting.

We only want genuine authors. Don’t write about your own shop raving how great it is – if you have a great shop then at the very least find one of your regular customers, point them in our direction and let them write it. We aren’t an advertising space and we have a specially trained sniffer dog that can detect self-promotion even through 3 layers of deceit – his name is Pogo.

So get started, get out there and try some new things and when something blows your mind put it down into text and send it to admin@intheact.com.au
